Spent some time at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville on a beautiful day…seminar with the Volunteer golf team and golf coaches. Casey VanDamme is the assistant coach and he taught at the Jim McLean Golf School at PGA West…he was the youngest teacher to become a Jim McLean Master Instructor. I also had dinner with head coach, Jim Kelson…excellent crab cakes and shrimp and great company.
Tennessee’s new Day Practice Facility is phenomenal. Greg Norman designed it. Check it out here. They have a mental coach plus a strength and conditioning coach. In the men’s and women’s programs, they have eight golfers from Europe. It’s just amazing how college golf has changed…the Taylor Made guys were there fitting the players.
I also had the pleasure of giving a golf lesson to University of Tennessee basketball coach Pat Summitt, the all-time winningest coach in college basketball.
Then I attended the Tennessee-Florida football game with 104,000 of my closest friends. They take football very seriously, to say the least…just an amazing atmosphere…they also sell out every women’s BB game. Knoxville is a great town. Happy to have this opportunity.
