U.S. Women’s Open thoughts…

Congratulations to Paula Creamer who played really well, especially with her injured thumb. The television commentators said her thumb injury seemed so bad at one stage doctors were worried Paula might not play again. What a great example of the power of persistence…I never saw a persistent person fail.

Students Cristie Kerr finished T-17 and and Alexis Thompson finished T-10. Lexi, now a professional, earned $72,131 and Cristie earned $49,365 to bring her total to $954,336 for the year.

In the history of professional golf, who has won the most money by age 15? Answer Alexis Thompson. Her top 10 finish gets her into next year’s U.S. Women’s Open. She’s not on the official entry list for the Ricoh British Women’s Open as of today but she might go over to qualify. Watch this channel.

Lexi was 2nd in driving distance for the week and her average drive was 40 yards longer per drive than the winner Paula Creamer. The power she displays is awesome. The greatest players in golf, like other sports, are usually extremely powerful. In golf, Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, are/were powerful. Lexi is just 15.
